Professor Guillarmou will explain how new techniques coming from harmonic and microlocal analysis allow one to give a sense to a discrete spectrum for flows with hyperbolicity, and some applications of these results to the study dynamical zeta functions such as Ruelle zeta functions, one of them being Fried’s conjecture relating Reidermeister torsion to the value as s=0 of the Ruelle function.
